UNICEF - HAITI EMERGENCY RELIEF $75,000.00
January 2010
In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010 Webkinz Foundation matched donations made by Ganz employees to support UNICEF’s relief efforts.
Haiti is in a state of emergency. Nearly half of Haiti’s population is under the age of 18 - almost 5 million youth and children. Often during emergencies, children bear the brunt of the devastation.
The international community has asked UNICEF to take a leadership role. The most urgent needs have been identified – the provision of clean water and sanitation, the assurance of child protection, nutrition, health, safety. A cargo plane carrying UNICEF supplies has landed in the country, bringing with it enough oral rehydration salts, water purifications tablets, tarpaulins and tents for 10,000 families. UNICEF will now lead the international efforts on the ground, reaching children and their families with immediate assistance.
